Rev. William Lovin


The Rev. William Lovin, began his ministry at Congregational UCC in August 2007. A native of Illinois, Bill graduated from Southern Illinois University and Harvard Divinity School.  He served churches in Wisconsin and Connecticut before coming to Iowa City. Bill has a passion for teaching the New Testament and a deep interest in the relationship between faith and work.  He is also a big fan of the bossa nova. 

Director of the Church School--The Rev. Patte Henderson began her work as our Director of the Church School in December 2015. Patte directs the Sunday morning program for children, including both the 9:15 Sunday School and the Children’s Church that is held during worship. Patte brings with her a wealth of education and experience. She has a BS in Education and worked for 13 years as an elementary and early childhood teacher. She also has an M.Div. and is a retired Presbyterian minister, having served in churches in Colorado, Virginia, and Iowa as both a Director of Education and a Pastor. 

Choir Director--Chris Nakielski began serving as our choir director in August 2016. Chris is a doctoral student in choral conducting at the University of Iowa. He graduated from Ripon College with a B.A. in Vocal Performance in 2006. He received his Masters in Music Education from Vander Cook College of Music in Chicago in 2009. He has directed choral ensembles at Millennium Park in Chicago, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and in several European countries. In addition he toured with the rock artist Ben Ripani for five years, playing at the SXSW Music Festival, The Bitter End, and the House of Blues. Chris brings his experience and talent to our worship service each Sunday.

Bill Crouch

Bill Crouch - is our organist who greets us each Sunday with a selection of impressive works from many favorite composers.

Office Manager--Nan Martin is our Office Manager. She keeps things going around her from 9-3, Monday through Friday, ready to greet people and answer questions.
